It has been a privilege to be Headteacher at Willaston CE Primary School for the past fourteen years. Working every day with engaging children, dedicated, passionate and hard working professionals and a team of committed and talented Governors is incredibly rewarding. I have spent the whole of my career in the teaching profession working in four different schools predominantly in school leadership. I believe that every child deserves the very best education we can provide. Every area of the curriculum is important and it is our responsibility to encourage every child to be the best they can be. It is a pleasure to lead Willaston's great team.

I've been the Vicar of Christ Church Willaston and a governor since 2015, I'm married to Joanna and we have two daughters at School. It is a real delight to work with the staff and children and a joy taking Collective Worship each week, and welcoming everyone into church throughout the year. It continues to be a real privilege to be able to support pupils, staff, parents and carers.

God bless,

Mr J Hilditch

Area of Responsibility Chair of Governors
Pecuniary Interest and other Governor appointments-Deputy Headteacher at Archers Brook School

I have recently been appointed as a Parent Governor, Vice Chair of Governors, then Chair of Governors, and look forward to serving my time with commitment, enthusiasm and honesty. I will support the school in continuing to move forward with challenge and rigour to ensure it delivers the best quality education to our children.

I have been a member of the community all my life and believe the school plays a pivotal role in bringing us all together. I feel privileged that both my children have attended the school and with the support of the staff are flourishing both socially and academically. The involvement of parents to work alongside the school is crucial for this to continue and I hope to be a line of communication during my term.

I have lived in the village since 1986 and both my children were pupils at the school. I was a Parent Governor at the time and, until recently, I have been involved as (temporary!) auditor of the school fund for almost 20 years. I am a Chartered Accountant by profession.

I am keen to ensure that the available financial resources are put to their best use to ensure that education provided by the school continues to be of the highest standard.

I have been SENCo at Willaston CE Primary School since 2006 supporting children and their families through the primary school journey. I have achieved a postgraduate certificate from Edge Hill University for the National Award in SEN Co-ordination. Through these studies I have become very interested in further developing my knowledge of the role of a governor in school.

On a personal note, I am also keen to support the community side of the governing body as my grandparents moved to the village of Willaston from Essex in 1947 to start a local family business and my father is an ex-pupil of the school.

I count myself privileged to have lived in the Village since 2012 with my husband, Mark and two ‘moderately’ independent sons.

Having been brought up in a farming community in Yorkshire, I have always had a passion for village life and playing a small part in the village community. I am fortunate to have joined the Reading Ranger team at Willaston Primary School in 2017 and I am passionate about helping children to read. I have been involved with our family business for over thirty years and hope to bring some of my commercial and personnel skills to the work of the Board of Governors.

Mrs J Collins
Local Authority Governor
Term of office 19.11.17.-18.11.21.

Area of Responsibility - Safeguarding and Community
Pecuniary Interest and other Governor appointments-None

Hello, my name is Jill Collins and I’m delighted to be taking over the role of Local Authority Governor from my husband Martin, thereby continuing our family’s long association with Willaston Primary School which now spans four generations.

As a parent I was Chair of the PTA back in the 80s and a regular classroom helper, and it was with the support and encouragement of the school staff at that time that I decided to go back to college full time and retrain as a primary school teacher.

Now, thirty years later and the proud grandma of two little boys, (one of whom is already a pupil at Willaston and the other will be so within the blink of an eye) I am thrilled to be able to repay my debt of gratitude by taking an active role in the future of this inspirational school.

Warm wishes, Jill.

I have lived in Willaston for over 20 years and my child attends the school. I am looking forward to working with the teaching staff and governors in order to continue the school’s progression, with the aim of providing a first class education for all children who attend and a solid learning foundation for the rest of their lives.

I’m hoping that my skills and training gained with work will complement the expertise of the board of governors and that I will be able to assist the staff to continue to provide a safe and fun
environment for all children to learn in.

I first lived in Willaston in 1982, while studying Veterinary Science at Leahurst, and returned in 2004 with my two daughters.

While we lived in Stockport, I was very involved in my daughters’ Primary school. I enjoyed my time so much that I was employed as a Teaching Assistant and trained to teach there, specialising in Key Stage 2 science.

After moving to Willaston, my youngest daughter attended Willaston CE Primary school for Years 4-6. She had a very happy and successful time there. Unfortunately, life took me away from education as a career and I started a business with my husband. This did allow me time to help with IT lessons, which I enjoyed.

I am excited to have been invited to act as Foundation Governor at Willaston CE Primary. I am fully committed to helping and supporting the school in its provision of an excellent all-round education for every pupil.

I have lived in the village for over 18 years and my 3 children have all attended the school. I have worked for the school since 2011 after joining the team as a Clerical Assistant. Prior to this I worked for Lloyds Banking Group for over 20 years.

I took on the role of School Business Manager in 2017 and became a member of the Governing Body in March 2019 after being elected as a co-opted Governor. My School Business Manager role and experience provides me with a sound knowledge of how the school operates being able to advise on the day to day running of the school. I oversee the management of the school office and premises staff.

As School Business Manager I plan and present the school budget to ensure retention of staff and the provision of resources for learning throughout the school. This is monitored throughout the year and presented to the Finance Committee and Full Governing Body.
