Dear Parent/Carer

Please find attached Learning Grid to support your child’s learning this week.

Last week we were delighted to extend our opening to groups of Reception, Y1 and Y6 children. It was great to see everyone and school started to feel a little bit more normal with more children in it. The children were super! They all followed our new routines brilliantly. The staggered start and finish times and our one way system into the playground has enabled us to avoid gatherings of people as much as possible. I want to thank those of you who have been coming to school for your help with this. It has worked well.

The weather was amazing last week apart from Friday so please could sun cream be applied before children come to school and they need a sun hat please. We advise you to bring an umbrella for waiting in the queue to come in through the gate at drop off and collection times, because we have a staggered approach we can only open the gates at exactly the times your child starts and finishes their teaching session. It was a bit wet and soggy on Friday morning! Please could children not be sent into school with sweets for the class just at the moment. We would be really grateful.

Of the children that we have seen in school, we have been really impressed with their resilience. They have settled straight back into the routines and expectations as if they have never been away. The quality of the work that all the teachers have seen so far has been great. You have clearly done a super job with the children’s home learning! I know all of you want to know what will happen in September. This is going to be really difficult for me to say until just before our expected return at the beginning of September. It is too far away at this point to know what the situation will be regarding the Coronavirus and the impact it may have on our school. I can tell you however, that staff will not be changing year groups:-

Reception - Mrs Lamb

Year 1 - Miss Hughes

Year 2 - Miss Bell

Year 3 - Miss Hull

Year 4 - Miss Chapman

Year 5 - Miss Garcia

Year 6 - Mr Graham

You could help to prepare your child for September by talking to them about their new teacher. You could look on the year group above page on the website to show your child the sorts of things that the next class does. All the staff have produced videos of stories or challenges which you can find on the website to share with your child.

The two week rota currently in place in Phase 1 will continue until further notice. (After week 2, we go back to week 1). Obviously we are assessing the situation on a weekly basis and will inform you of any changes as soon as I can. As you know our school has remained open to vulnerable children and the children of key workers throughout the whole of this pandemic including the Easter and half term holidays. I can confirm that school will be closed during the summer break from the 17th July. I’m sure you will appreciate that staff need to re-charge their batteries and spend some much needed time with their families so the they are re-energised and ready to support your child next term.

Have a good week,

Kindest regards

Mrs Chambers and Class Teacher
