Letter from Mrs Chambers and Forest School dates

Dear Parents/Carers

It was great to see all the children back in school today and what a super day we have all had!

The children quickly settled into the routines of school and all looked happy to be back in the classrooms with their new teachers. All the teachers are still smiling at the end of the day and delighted to be getting back to the new normal.

Obviously we have made lots of changes to make our school environment as safe as we possibly can. With the changes that we have made we have been able to separate year group ‘bubbles’ and ensure social distancing particularly between any adults as much as possible. Many thanks for following the allocated times for arrival and collection of pupils from school today, your help with this was much appreciated. The staggered start times worked well with year groups arriving at exactly the start times allocated allowing us to spread out the the huge volume of children arriving in school. Lunch time and break times also went well with staggered timings ensuring that contacts between different year groups were kept to a minimum.

The end of the day was a little more problematic, due to class teachers not yet being familiar with the adults who collect children from school. This was also not helped by the awful weather!

Tomorrow we will be using both gates onto the school field to release children at the end of the day. Year 1, 4 and 5 will come out of the gate by the Literacy Mill and Year 2, 3 and 6 will come out of the first gate. Releasing siblings earlier at the end of the day also proved to be very disruptive to class teaching and we had to utilise additional staff who were taken away from teaching to meet safeguarding requirements. Therefore in future all children will be released at their allocated year group time (Y1 & Y2 - 2.55pm, Y3 & Y4, 3.05pm and Y5 & Y6 3.15pm) . I apologise for inconvenience that this may cause but I am sure you will understand that safeguarding children is our priority.

A few quick requests:-

  • Home time collection arrangements - Please can you email the office with any permanent home time collection arrangements ie. Grandad picks up every Thursday/Friday.
  • Coats - Please ensure all children have warm waterproof coats for play times please.
  • School Reading Books - Please can all children return any reading books taken from school before March, back to school this week.
  • Considerate Parking - Please can we remind all parents to be considerate of our neighbours when parking. Please refrain from parking across peoples driveways. Many thanks.

Please also find attached Forest School dates for this term. Please note that Y4 and Y6 will have Forest School tomorrow. May we remind you that children must wear appropriate clothes and have waterproofs & wellies/walking boots for each Forest School session.

Many thanks for your cooperation. It really has been a great day and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Best wishes

Mrs Chambers
