School Trips

Please note that all School Trips and Educational Visits are currently cancelled due to Covid-19. We hope to resume once it is deemed safe to do so. Thank you for your understanding.

Here at Willaston we are very proud of our comprehensive range of residentials and day trips offered to the children. They form a very important part of our curriculum and our ethos. They allow children to learn outside the classroom in a variety of settings and it also promotes their personal development and independence.

At present we run five residential visits in the school year for pupils from Year 2 through to Year 6. However, please note that all trips and visits are currently cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Year 2 travel to Beeston for a one night stay at the Cheshire run centre. Whilst there they visit Beeston Castle and have the opportunity to explore the castles history. We take part in workshops at the castle linked to our learning in the classroom. Children stay overnight and return to school via the Candle Factory where they make a present to bring home.

Year 3
is another one night stay but this time at Burwardsley, the children will enjoy activities such as Den Building and visiting the Iron Age Roundhouse. This centre offers the children great opportunities to explore and learn new experiences.

Year 4 sees the children extend their visit to two nights. The children travel to the small Cheshire village of Tattenhall, where they enjoy a historical walk around Tattenhall Village followed by games activities and their first overnight stay. Next day they enjoy exploring the zip wire, tree climb and low ropes course, followed by their second nights sleep. Their final morning sees them visiting the Ice Cream Farm for lunch before returning back to school.

Year 5
travel further away and are now staying for three nights. They travel across North Wales to Menai, Anglesey and the Conway Centre. Whilst here they take part in the Art Education in a Multicultural Society course or AEMS. They work with different artists from around the
world focusing on art, dance and drama. Activies include Samba Drumming, Beat Boxing, Storytelling, Indian Dance and Visual Art.,  On this residential they have the opportunity to meet with other children from around Cheshire and share work with them.

Our final residential is in Year 6 and the much anticipated visit to PGL at Winmarleigh Hall in Lancashire. This is a first class opportunity for the children to take part in wide range of outdoor and adventurous activities such as High Ropes, Big Swing, Archery, Climbing Wall and Raft Building. The children really love this trip as it is one last week away with their friends before they head off to their new high schools.

In addition to this, day trips are made for all children to local areas of interest to enhance the curriculum. These include Safety Cental (Year 6), Lady Lever Art Gallery (Year 6)
